Hi, this is Beatrix and I’m a digital illustrator based in New York.
My works investigate psychological and philosophical themes such as subconsciousness, individualization, and dreams through surreal visual language. Deeply inspired by the surrealist school of thinking, I strive to create a space where reason and logic can be temporarily suspended in order to leave room for imagination during my creative process. I believe all sorts of artist endeavors, as well as the viewing experience of art, take place in the intersection of consciousness and subconsciousness, and the more we allow the subconsciousness to surface, the more we discover ourselves through art.
I like to create juxtapositions and paradoxes in my work. With every concept that I want to visualize, I always approach it by asking: how can I add a “twist” to it so that the final result is something other than just a straightforward, conventional representation of the subject? To what extent can I still communicate the subject by making my solution as “unexpected” as possible? These intellectual challenges are a constant fuel for my inspiration and passion for work.
